This photograph was shot in Hadia village, Karnataka, close to Nagarahole National Park. A herd of elephants walked into agricultural fields while local villagers tried to coerce them to walk back the other way, into the forest. The elephants were under immense stress, with stones and crackers being hurled at them by the villagers, who were equally stressed about their crops being damaged. Incidents like these are a daily occurrence in many parts of the country and human-elephant conflict continues to be rife.
