The Karnataka Forest Department (KFD) has come out with a coffee table book, ‘FORESTS’, focusing on the lives of their frontline staff. This book is dedicated to the martyrs, as well as retired and serving forest personnel.

The Karnataka Forest Department is a pioneering department, especially in the conservation of forests and wildlife. They are the torch-bearers of standards in wildlife conservation and protection. This book aims to support the cause of conservation of forests and wildlife, and also hopes to give people an understanding of the lives and challenges of KFD’s frontline staff.

The book, authored by Vijay Mohan Raj (IFS), has over 220 pages showcasing some of the best photographs of KFD’s staff at work in various forest landscapes of Karnataka.

The book’s high-resolution medium format photographs are by award-winning photographers. These photographs were especially commissioned by the Karnataka Forest Department so that the book could maintain continuity in visual aesthetics and appeal.

‘FORESTS’ is a showcase of Karnataka Forest Department’s journey – from the glorious past of the days of the Maharajas of Mysore to the present day. The book also showcases the challenges and the lives of the frontline staff of the Karnataka Forest Department.
