Priyanka Rahut Mitra was born and educated in Kolkata, and spent much of her life in North Bengal, where her family owned a tea estate. Her earliest memories of being in the wild date back to walking or driving through forests with her father, waiting patiently in one of the watchtowers or rescuing and rehabilitating different animals and birds, both domestic and wild. She took a keen interest in wildlife photography much later and loves to document a wide diversity of life forms, which could range from a big cat in a jungle, to the prinias, snakes and lizards in her backyard. Priyanka operates a cloud kitchen in Bangalore, which specialises in reviving lost culinary jewels from Bengal.
